2013 is Dead

December was a crazy month with me going back home for a few weeks to check up on our house and to change some basic details. Things in the UK are still a little bleak but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I also took the time to visit family and friends in Vienna.......

It's now back to reality with me starting work on the 2nd and some clear goals defined..... While 2013 was a chore I'm confident that 2014 will bring a fresh perspective.

The boys are going great, both at school and at home, and love living in Australia...... Yes, their view of the world may be small but they are happy and for me, that's enough.

Late Update : Had my 31st birthday at Stillwater on the Mornington Peninsula.....

Martin turns 6

What makes me smile every year is the fact we named him Martin after my hero Martin Gore……………….. He’s born in the year of the Golden Pig, on St Martins day and a poppy will always remind me of one of the happiest kids I have ever met.

Karl............... Well, he's' like Dad.. grumpy, questioning and full of ........;-)

PS Got a job................ Start Jan.. Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Holiday!

Unemployed in Australia

For the last six months I've been making myself and my team redundant. Off-shore is the new game in town closely following what the UK did 10 years ago. So now as a man of leisure I should have time to keep this blog up to date. Between interviews and the incredibly poor weather we're having I'm planning to go home for a couple of weeks to sort some stuff I've been meaning to do for ages. Now all I need to find is a money tree as Australia is not a great place to be with no income. The boys are having their school music production next week so that should be fun, NOT, and life goes on.

PS With all the iFads and crap that kids zombie out on its amazing to see how much fun $20 of slip and slide can be.

Spring is here

It was Karl Jnr's birthday a few days ago and believe it or not he has turned 8 although I'm sure he's actually 28 in a child's body. I took them to SideTracked which proved to be a really fun place with indoor go-karts for all ages, bowling, games, skirmish and putt-putt. They also received their "participation medals" (sic) for the football season. I have to say that both boys will never be the last kids picked for a team and hold their own on the field while Dad sits reading on his Kindle.

It's Spring tomorrow

Bloody hell, time flies. The boys are finished football season (loved it) and suddenly it's Spring.......... I took the boat for a service today (thanks Mom for paying) to get ready for Snapper Season and now we are just enjoying a few hours mucking about in the sun playing catch with the boys. Went for a bike ride as we live very close to a reserve with miles of tracks and the boys loved being dare-devils on their bicycles.... (dad is just waiting for them to say - Can I have a motorcycle....Mom says No!!!)

Star of the Week

Martin get his mandatory star of the week for being "positive". What ever happened to getting prizes/rewards when you actually do something meaningful or outstanding. So, now we reward people for merely existing and kids with raisin like brains believe they are super-achievers which translates into "Hi, I'm not very bright but I'd like to be the CEO at 24". I guess this is where parenting comes in but if parents are anything to go by today, we are in serious trouble.

On a lighter note, we made our first batch of olives from the tree. I (Georgie) have a feeling they are supposed to be prepared a different way as they are kalamata but I did them in a traditional method. I gave it a go and they turned out pretty well, but nobody trusts my recipe enough to eat them....maybe next year!

Ground-Hog Day - 2013

Time for a few words....... 2013 has already been manic with the boys going back to school and summer being one of the best in years. Its Moomba again and like most things in Australia is just comes round again and again and again..... Even the bloody stalls are in the same place each year with the same carnies trying to fleece you..... Lucky enough we now live in the world where everyone's a winner so $10 at least assures you of some shitty 10c prize from our Chinese friends across the pond. Kids are happy but we are getting itchy feet. Punksatony Phil is telling me its going to be a LONG winter.

Tennis, Mozza and more Boating

Once again its been a busy few weeks here in Neverland. We went to see old Mozza at Festival Hall. He was as always on the money with great remixes of his old and new tunes.
Yes, its all about the Tennis with the Australian Open in full swing. The missus and I were invited to see the 3rd round clash between Federer  and TomicHell, after that I went out and bought some rackets, joined a club, and now the Neubauer's are swinging wild - Well the kids are. ;-)

PS Pics/Video from my Nokia 920 so not great
