Gumbuya World 2019

The end of the year is fast approaching and what a way to close off the year with a trip to Gumbuya World. It was a cool 40 degrees so the water was fantastic and with phase two complete there were so many new options. Both mom and dad did the tube and holy crap was I not prepared for the speed while I clung onto the GoPro. After that, it was back to chilling and wading in the wave pool.

Surfing Torquay

What a great short break we had. We drove to Torquay so the boys could take part in a surfing lesson at the Torquay Surfing Academy. After that, we drove to the Barwon Heads Hotel to enjoy the beach and dinner At The Heads Restaurant. After a restless night, we headed off to the Ferry to head back home. Australia is truly an awesome place.

Hasting MX track

Today was the first time we went to the Mornington Peninsula Motorcycle Club of which we are members. It was Martins 2nd time and he did well. I had to don a safety vest to ride as a marshal on the Junior track. It was fun albeit a little slow but these old bones are not that nimble anymore. Some other chap bust his wrist - OUCH. We then headed home had a subway and now it is time for dad to CRASH on the couch.

Cherry's

It was a cool summers day and we decided to drive down and pick some cherries. We then went for snacks at Foxy's before driving back to get the boys back for karate and basketball. All this beauty is a short 30min drive from our house.

Graduation

In 2019 you get rewarded for turning up and it was no different today as Martin 'graduated' from primary school. Karl also graduated today and took 3rd place in the Kata and gained his yellow belt, an actual achievement. Christmas is coming fast and we all hope we have a healthy and happy holiday ahead.

90 Mile Beach

What a great short break we had. After a short two and a half-hour ride, we arrived at Golden Beach. We went straight to the beach where we enjoyed a glorious 35-degree day and I let Wookie off her leash to roam free. We then left for the apartment (5min walk), had some steak sandwiches and watched Powder. The following day we were off the motocross track where the Boys learned how to ride a dirt bike. After 4 hours, we were all knackered, went back, lay on the beach for an hour, had a burger at the ONLY shop in town watched another movie then watched England lose :-(, and went to bed.

Melbourne Show 2019

Groundhog day in Australia and the Neubauer's and Larry were off to the show. The weather was perfect to walk around and view all the wonderful pets, products and entertainment. The boys went off while I strolled around just enjoying the wonderful day. We met up for lunch then a few rides before we bought the obligatory show bags. Let us just say that we have enough sweets for the next few months. Back home to watch the AFL Grand Final before a movie and a much-needed sleep.

School concerts

It is that time again where the schools put on concerts........ Martins' was thankfully the final primary concert of mediocrity I had to face and now look forward to another (God willing) 6 years of orchestrated high-school 'repertoires'. Kids enjoyed the nights where they are the talent, not the teachers.

Buller 2019 with Gran

The yearly trip to Buller (sometimes two) always amazes me and is a constant reminder of what a fantastic country we live in. While not exactly St Anton, it serves its purpose well. We hit the top on a cool and misty afternoon and awoke the next day to a clear sky with some fantastic skiing. While we skied the ladies enjoyed the Village and all its culinary delights.

We also took Gran to Hofbrauhaus for lunch before the big trip.

Looking forward to returning asap.

The day the clocks changed

What a beautiful Sunday, and with an extra hour, we got to have a fantastic day. It all started with a ride down to Mornington Peninsula Pier where I kicked back to take in the sites. After a quick stop at an antique shop (which was huge), I headed back home to pick up the family. I hopped on my new electric bicycle and headed off to Mordialloc and had lunch at Yo My Burger. It's now time to relax before its back to work (and coming down with a cold).

Moomba 2019

It's that time again: Do we ever learn our lesson? Loved Mooba this year as we were joined by a few friends who had never been. Thankfully the weather was not scorching, so walking around was pleasant with the rides super expensive but worth every bit of debt I'll incur later. We then ventured down Flinders Lane to look at the art followed by a light lunch at Movida.

Tubing

It was another spectacular day in Melbourne and we set out to test the new tube. Mom was the spotter and Karl Jnr was our test pilot. All worked a charm and we're looking forward to a day where Port Philip Bay is flat. PS The pool table arrived today so we have some hustling to do. PPS Note Martins Van's slides.

Yarra Valley Railway

Today we decided to head back to Healsville to ride the Yarra Valley Railway. We got the first train at 10am and took the scenic 35min journey. We saw brooks, kangaroos and even a haunted tunnel. Martin got to blow the horn and we all learned something new about the areas. We then headed off to The Old Bullock Dray for a nice shared brunch, then off home for a well deserved cold beer.
